Here we have a a chance of a lifetime - a genuine and complete Wurlitzer organ - dating from around the 1970s.
A top quality instrument in its day, and wonderous to behold!
We have not been able to find the model number yet - but all the labels found are included in the pictures - but we think it is a 4500 model. It appears that Wurlitzers were pretty much bespoke - made to order.
If you know how to determine the model - please let us know.
This instrument is complete with the correct stool, foot pedals, and music stand - these are now shown in the pictures - and we have added more pictures, showing the insides.
The woodwork is in excellent condition for the age - with just a few small scratches which will be made to disappear with a little TLC.
Keys all have a firm action, although the keyboard itself may require a service, as a couple of keys are sluggish - perhaps through lack of use.
This is an early transistorised organ - which still shows the design heritage of the thermionic valve models.
We have powered it up today - and lo-and-behold - it appears to work, although not knowing anything about these organs, and the vast myriad of switches - we can't say if it is 100%. In fact one key on the upper keyboard definitely sticks.
So we are selling for spares or repair.
Note - a working type of this model sold at over $4000 in the USA.
Please come and view it to your hearts content.
Here is a message from a helpful expert about this organ -
Hi, its a model 4520. They are very rare, they were made in 1967. This looks exceptionally nice. I believe they made less than 100 and they were very very expensive. It was Wurlitzer's first attempt at an electronic theatre organ, drawing on their heritage. It is based on the 4500, but with differences. Despite how early they are, they sound very pipe organ like, and the stops are good analogue imitations of the real thing. I have been collecting them, i have 3 including a very rare white and gold one. And i actually didnt think there were very many in the UK at all. I would love it but there is a limit.
